PSCS recommends you have a disaster go bag for your bird including paper copies of information about each of your pets with names, photo, personality, feeding instructions, medical care and veterinary contact with 3-4 alternative phone numbers, food, water, medications, a first aid kit with a hemostat for pulling broken blood feathers and bandaging material for both you and your bird, a large-preferably flannel- sheet, a stick for stepping up/transfer of your bird, a folding dog pen for temporary barrier around your bird to keep others out of poking/nipping range, a couple of towels for comfort/clean-up/emergency handling of your bird, and a gram scale so you can tell if your bird is losing weight- the easiest way to tell if your bird is eating enough.
