When highway 97 opened yesterday PSCS got a call from CDART to help with getting a couple of cats out of Williams Lake. As neither of our disaster trained organizations were permitted to go into Williams Lake while the evacuation order was in place these cats had been trapped inside their home for a extended period of time due to no fault of their owners. As we were the closest and able to respond immediately, two trained volunteers drove from Quesnel and with the owners permission gained entry into the home. Both cats although hungry were in good condition and brought back to our temporary emergency shelter to be cared for until they can be reunited with their family. Both CDART and Pet Safe Coalition believe that animal organizations accomplish more good by working together and I believe that is what sets them apart from some of the others.
